the detox cookbook, cleansing for food lovers by jan purser and kathy snowball published by Allen & Unwin in 2004 is a hot item on my bookshelf for 2008.

I'm nearly one week into what I'm guessing is a mild detox program and I am experiencing many of the not so good side effects such as a nasty headache which lasted 3 days and has eased today, tiredness and a rash which lasted 24 hours.

I'd always thought detox sounded like a buzz word and never once thought of going on a detox, however in the holidays I always go to the library and make sure that I borrow books on topics I don't know anything about. The last trip I spotted this book on the shelf! 

I drink too much coffee and also lead a hectic lifestyle combining family, singing and law school.

Today is the fifth day of using this book, which I intend to use for the next two months. I am down from 6 cups of coffee a day to 1 and have ceased consuming dairy, wheat and alcohol. My junk food consumption is nearly at nil however there have been a few birthdays lately and it is bad luck not to eat birthday cake ( or is that wedding cake? ).

I hope to write in a couple of months or so and let you know how the detox has gone. I have dropped 2kgs in 5 days and feel really great today so I can't wait to let you know what happens when I completely go off coffee. That happens when the cupboard runs out which is soon!
